Secret Santa

Class 5-306’s Secret Santa

Class 5-306 will be participating in a Secret Santa this year. Students must spend no more than $2.50 on their Secret Santa presents.   Our Secret Santa will take place on Friday, December 23rd.  Students will also write a one-sentence clue on Friday, December 16th to give a hint to their identity.

In addition, each student will also make a holiday card for their Secret Santa.  In this holiday card, students should write the card using details and compliments about the person.  We want every student to leave for Winter Break feeling positive.

We have materials such as markers, construction paper and glue if they need to be borrowed by students.  Other materials will need to be found at home.

Some ideas for create-able items include, but aren’t limited to:

*Ornaments

*Dioramas

*Cookies or other homemade foods

*Bookmarks

*Mix CDs (of appropriate songs)

*Keychains

*Crafts

*Pins/buttons

*Photo Frames

*Poems

*Jewelry

*Notebooks

You can also purchase items at 99 cent stores or discount stores.  Previous years, we've seen a nice mix of Pez dispensers, homemade goodies, notebooks, pens, books and more! WE WANT YOU TO GET CREATIVE!!! THE IDEAS ARE ENDLESS!

On Friday, we will have a celebration, and all Secret Santas will be revealed.  We will be watching a Winter-themed film while munching on some goodies. If you would like to send your child in with a treat, please let me know

Country Project

306's Country Projects are due on December 20th. Students have been invited to come to our classroom during lunch or at 8am Tuesday - Thursday if they need extra time. Also, I have lightened the homework load with the intention that students will be using this extra time to work on their projects.

Our First Marble Jar Celebration

The 5th graders had an extra period outside to celebrate filling up their marble jar. The forecast called for rainy day, but it ended up being beautiful!

The Buddies Meet Again

The 1st graders loved it so much when the 5th graders read to them, they wanted to treat the 5th graders to some reading, too. The 1st graders came to 306 with their book bags filled with their favorites reads. It was so fun (and super cute) to hear them read. We can't until our next visit where the buddies will be interviewing each other.

Magnificent Mosaics!

Thank you to Sharon Matz for coming in and hosting November's First Friday! 5-306 made amazing mosaic mirrors for the Winter Festival Auction. They are absolutely stunning! The students had a great time creating their masterpieces. I know they will be a hit!

Congrats to Group 1 and Group 2!

Group 1 and Group 2 were our lunch group winners for October 17th - 28th! It was fun having half of our class up for pizza and Chinese food. Not pictured: Jalon, Zac, Dean, Charlie, Cook, Christian, Regan, Nicky, and Henry.

Wackadoodles on Wacky Day

Cheers to Frobscottle!

To celebrate the completion of our beloved read aloud, The BFG, 306 drank FROBSCOTTLE (the BFG's scrumdiddlyumptious drink) and watched the BFG movie. I think we all agreed... the movie does not even compare to the Roald Dahl's masterpiece! Cheers to the BFG!

On Monday, October 31st, students can wear wacky attire in honor of Halloween. They may choose to wear:
- their clothes inside out.
-mismatched socks or shoes.
-funky color combinations.

The students have been told that their wacky attire should not be a distraction to them or their classmates. They should avoid wearing any hats or jewelry that may disrupt the flow of the day.

Penny Power!

Penny Harvest is just around the corner. Be on the lookout for the Penny Heroes! They will be traveling around PS 154 educating our students about Penny Harvest. Class 5-306 came in first place last year (along with our buddies) and decided to donate the money to Japan's relief efforts. Let's do it again this year!

Memoir Publishing Party

The fifth graders read their classmates' lovely memoirs and wrote comments about eachother's pieces. I was just as impressed with their thoughtful and encouraging comments as I was with their memoirs.
