Country Collages

On Family Friday, 5-306 started collages about their countries. They made a map and cut out various items that represented their countries (i.e. flags, food, animals, vegetation). The collages will be an ongoing project and the students will add more to their collages as they learn more about their countries.

Dylan's grandma, Abby, came in to show us some artwork from Central and South America.

Our Last Lunch Bunch... Group 3

Should zoos exist?

5-306 worked so hard on their research-based argument essays about whether or not zoos should exist. On this day, our classroom may have been colder than it was outside (notice their attire), but the kids typed on! All the essays will soon be put on display in the hallway.

November's First Friday

Class 5-306 chose their favorite character from a book and painted a portrait of them with very special paint. This paint can be transferred to material! The portraits were later ironed on to a table cloth to be auctioned off at the Winter Festival on December 7th. Thank you so much to Amelia Costigan and Sandy Smith for all their help!

Celina focuses on painting a portrait of her favorite character.

Lunch Bunch

Congratulations to Group 4 for winning group points for 10/7 to 10/18. They sure loved their sushi lunch!

Armory

Check out these photos from our first trip to the Armory. The students had to move through five stations today! What a workout! They should sleep well tonight.

Buddies!

Class 5-306 met with their Kindergarten buddies for the first time on October 18th. The Kindergarteners shared their favorite books with the 5th graders and then the 5th graders read the books to their little buddies. After, they filled out a special "Favorite Book" paper together. I was so impressed by the fifth graders and how they interacted with the Kindergarteners. They were so kind and nurturing!

So cute!
