After reading the book, Only One You, P.S. 154 students decorated rocks with designs that represented them. The rocks were covered with powerful words and designs.

Vocab Quiz Study Tips

The 5th graders brainstormed ways to study for their weekly word study quizzes. Take a look at our list below!

STUDY TIPS:

make flashcards
have a friend, family member, or babysitter quiz you
come up with synonyms for as many words as you can
create sentences for each word
make sketches for the words
act out the words/play charades

Students can study by playing games here, too!

Reading Entries

~ Reading entries are assigned 1-2 days per week.

~ Students should be writing their entries 15-20 minutes, and they should reflect the work we're doing in class (developing theories, setting significance, character influence, theme, etc).

~ Entries should be written about the current book the student is reading.

~ Students have been collecting entry samples to refer to for support.

~ If an entry is not completed, it should be made up before the next reading entry is due.

~Entries are checked for completion each week. Class notebooks are collected for close readings and feedback about every four weeks. Students are expected to read the feedback and apply any recommendations to their future entries.
